Not Sure Where I'm Going... Nor Where I've Been?

Hello, happy readers!

Good grief, I've unintentionally been a way far longer than I anticipated, and even now I'm probably not in a proper state to be catching up, for two reasons:
1) I'm hanging around at the USC library in Columbia, SC, waiting to meet up with John and pals for lunch (long story). I'm out in the open amongst the awkward summer school kids...
AND
2) I had a pretty measly cup of coffee this morning and have been holding out getting a 2nd one. (Head... throbbing... hurts... the horror!) Waking up at 6:30am to hitch a ride with John isn't helping.

So here I am, killing time until my dearest wraps up his day at the Attorney General's office at the State House; I've had an awkward and frustrating week here in SC, but it's amazing how everything else worked out. I didn't plan on taking off this time, but a busted head gasket in my car (accompanied by several days of ordering parts and trying to figure out how I can pay the $3K tab...) kind of threw me off. No matter -- I've always prided myself on my adaptability, and what better time to challenge it.

So, I doodled around trying to find a good survey for today (yes, "doodled"); I figured even with a pounding headache and weird frat guy with a cold hanging around, I could still pull off a decent attempt with a survey. I didn't really find one I particularly cared for, so I decided to create one of my own. It's short, sweet, and to the point -- kind of like me, minus the short part (unless you're talking about my ability to put up with people, in which case the "sweet" thing goes out the window).

The "C is for Celia... but What About the Other Letters?" Survey
(I'll update you on life using the letters of my name -- clever, no?)

C: Charleston!
Happy day! As a few of your have found out, earlier this week I was accepted to an AmeriCorps/VISTA position in Charleston, SC. Okay, the actual position is in North Charleston -- the ghetto. No seriously. There's a part of I-26 that runs through there, affectionately called the "Corridor of Shame." Almost all the schools in the area are on free or reduced lunch, and the poverty level is one of the highest in the state. I'll be doing research and outreach for the City of North Charleston, the local government office, particularly with their after school programs in the elementary schools. I think my experience at the YMCA has really taught me a lot about what's to come; I couldn't be more excited. I start in mid-August!

E: End Of Term
I'm on the final leg of my current term with the North Florida Health Corps, and my last day is at the end of July. It's hard to think I have 6 weeks left. I remember starting back in September, and how lost and scared and scattered I was. I'm still a big mess, but at least I have a little more focus and know more about what I want. I'm ready to get back "home" and start getting the next real chapter of my life underway. My anxious energy and youthful appearance ain't gonna last too much longer!

L: Lexus.
As mentioned above, my car finally suffered it's fatal blow due to a busted head gasket, and I have to either crank out $3,000 or get busy on handing over my first born. Yikes. It's set me back this whole week not being back in Florida, but it's probably as good a time as any to be taking some emergency time off. My big project just wrapped up last week, and I'm way ahead in hours. Too bad "L" couldn't be for "Lottery", too, though...

I: Irritability
I really want that cup of coffee now.

A: Amore
John and I are made for each other, and I know this because we seem perfectly happy staying on the same path together. I'm glad I got to hang out with him a little more than anticipated this week. You'd think after nearly seven years of dating, we'd run out of things to say and do. But we always seek new adventures in life, and at the same time we're creatures of habit. I don't know what I'll do if he can't transfer back to SC.... Please keep him in your prayers.

Okay, I just saw three people walk in with Starbucks, and I can't take it anymore.
Sorry for the random update -- there will be much more to come once I've been properly nurished with caffeine and a decent area of privacy.

Happy Weekend!

PS. Oh, and I've updated the ol' Flicker. Enjoy!
